QMU SAPPHIRES Cheerleading

 

We are the QMU SAPPHIRES, Queen Margaret University’s official cheerleading team which has been around for 17 years, and during this time we have accomplished so much. Including our Level 1 team placing 2nd at the 2022 BCA Scottish Sensation competition, 2nd at our 2023 Showcase and 1st at the event in 2022. Our Level 1 coed team faced an intense competition season this year, but walked away with our highest ever scoring routine. Also, since the introduction of our stunt teams, they have been aiming high - earning divison champions at Reign Supreme 2023, and our level 1 team 'Electric Blue' are undefeated 2024 division champions, placing 1st at every competition in the 23/24 season!

We have a competition team (Level tbc for 24/25), and Level 1, 2 and 3 stunt teams who compete in competitions up and down the country. This year we will also be launching a POM Squad! (yes! after so many years of asking, its finally happening) who will also be attending competitions with our other teams. Alongside this we also run a recreational practice on a Wednesday night, where you are welcome to come and develop skills while also experimenting with stunts, tumbles, pom and dance. We also create a varsity team who perform at events over the varsity week: there are no try outs for this team and its a fun event for anyone who want to join. 

Cheerleading is an upcoming sport and involves tumbling, stunting, jumping and dancing so it's fair to say you’re always on the move. QMU Sapphires are a friendly and supportive society and feel like a close family. Throughout the year we run various socials (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and various fundraisers for everyone to get involved in!  You are bound to make friends for life with us, so don’t hesitate to contact any of the committee members/and or the social media pages with any questions!
